City of Bricks into City of Marbles(Augustus’Rome)



Augustus was the first Roman emperor who gave the principate to the Roman Empire and his age is considered as golden age of Romans.

As we know Greek gave the world philosophy,art and democracy but practically these ideas were applied in Rome.Three sides of Rome in Italy was surrounded by seas and one side through Apennine Mountains . Indo-Europeans called Italics came to Italy through these mountains and their tribe called “Latin”stayed in Latium and they began to establish walled villages which later on turned to city of Rome and that city after historical events turned to Roman Empire. Guals,Barbarians and Samnites attacked on Rome but defeated.Punic war was fought between Carthaginians of Sicily and Romans and later received a series of defeats.Hannibal Carthage of Sicily attacked Spain an ally of Rome and got reaction of Fabius Maximus and lost in the battle of Zama.He reunited Macedonia,Greece and Asia Minor but could not succeeded in his aims .

Cato was the Roman emperor who destroyed carthaginians and made the Rome prosperous. After prosperity conflict occurred and those conflicts tackled by Julius Caesar(conquered France and Belgium ), Pompey and Crassus .Julius Caesar assassinated by Brutus and later on Lepidus and Antony defeated Brutus and Cassius . Antony fell in love with queen Cleopatra of Egypt. Augustus succeeded him and killed Antony . Queen also committed suicide. 

Augustus age is no doubt Golden age of Roman republic. He introduced Augustus princeps and did many reforms. He constructed Coliseum (a large amphitheater having capacity of 50000 people) along with a lot of highways on 372 main routes . That’s why it is Said that all roads lead to Rome. His temple pantheon was build which diameter was 120 feet .He turned the city of bricks into city of marble.They worshiped many Gods but after a long span of time Rome picked the Christianity as religion.

Fall of Roman Empire was due to attacks of Huns and barbarians,incompetent leaders , wide gulf between rich and poor , slavery and poor discipline in Roman army.

In legacy of Rome is Roman law, their peace, administration and equality. Rome was divided into eastern and western parts. The great Eastern Roman  Emperor Justinian took the charge of law and made the Justinian code which remained the constitution of Roman republic.
